KYOTO x OSAKA : 1

KYOTO 26 - 29 Jul 2013

Summer really isn't the best time to head to Japan.
But then again, I would still jump at any chance to fly to Japan, no matter the season.

It is no surprise that booking an accommodation in Japan would take up a large portion of your expenses, thus rather than staying in a hotel, I opted for a homestay. I mean what better way to experience one of the most historical and cultural city in Japan than stay in a  beautiful 町屋machiya (traditional Japanese house)?

Kiyomizudera Temple
Sake party at the guesthouse

RAMEN & GYOZA AHHHHH SO GOOOD

The insanely long walk up to the temple.
Plenty of shops along the way to stop at.
HAD TO have an ice cream.
Finally. After 30 mins.
Also cause we kept running into the shops for air-conditioning.

Headed back to the guesthouse for a SAKE PARTY at night.

There were sake brewers, random travellers who happened to see the event, sake-lovers but everyone was so friendly, it felt more like a huge family reunion. We made some new friends who had us changing our itinerary on the 3rd day. No regrets though.

Rented a bicycle.
The shop is located right across the road when you exit the train station.

Momi Cafe
Note: Some cafes/restaurants in Japan require a minimum spending per person if you're dining-in, they are not cheating you of your money.

You won't believe how fast we crashed after 5 hours of cycling.
